Norwich is a hive of creativity and we want to showcase some of the incredible work that goes on in the city in the very special building kindly loaned to us for the month by The Shoe Factory Social Club. As an old shoe factory St. Mary’s Works is a huge space with large windows that on sunny days is flooded with light. As soon as we saw the building we wanted to do a show here and its natural attributes are what gave rise to the themes of light and space.

UNA Gallery likes big confident works that make us of interesting materials and techniques, bold colours, geometric designs, abstract forms and distinctive markings. We also like works that are witty, playful and process led. We have included a lot of such works in the show and with so many artists in the show many unique relationships have formed between the works, the artists and the building. Be it a shared palette, related techniques, similar materials or more abstracted and conceptual relationships, we feel it is these connections that harmonise the show and create the visual and emotional atmosphere that we were searching for. By exposing these artists work to new communities and audiences we hope to help sustain their practice and give them key skills and networks essential to the world of creative professional practice and we thank you for your support.
